01. About us & your booking

MJ Restoration provides mobile headlight restoration from Sunbury-on-Thames, serving London. Contact us at info@mjrestoration.co.uk or 07847 262397. These terms apply to customers booking for personal use. Business or fleet work requires a separate agreement.

A website request is an enquiry, not a confirmed appointment. Before you agree to a booking, we will provide our legal trading identity and geographical correspondence address, the proposed work, total price, payment arrangements, appointment details and these terms in a form you can keep. A booking is made when you accept that written quotation and we confirm it in writing.

You must own the vehicle or have the owner’s permission to authorise the work. Give us accurate vehicle, contact and location details and tell us about previous repairs, coatings, film, modifications, cracks or other known defects.

02. Prices, call-out fees & payment

Our package prices cover both headlights: Bronze £60 includes restoration and a protective sealant; Silver £80 includes complete restoration and a UV-protection coating; Gold £100 includes complete restoration and Paint Protection Film (PPF). The commercial restoration warranties are 6 months, 12 months and 24 months respectively, as explained in section 7.

Call-out fees may apply.

Travel is free within a 5-mile straight-line radius (8.04672 km) of the displayed Sunbury-on-Thames reference coordinates, 51.41872, −0.41839. Free travel also covers the entire London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, including parts outside that radius. Outside the combined free-travel area, a travel fee may apply. The map’s green zone shows free travel and its blue zone indicates where charges may apply; blue does not guarantee service availability. Necessary parking, toll, congestion or other access costs may also apply. We will tell you the amount and the full total before you agree to the booking. You may decline the quotation without charge.

The website calculator shows the package price only. It does not calculate travel or access charges. The agreed total includes any applicable taxes. There are no automatic or undisclosed extra charges.

If you change the location or request additional work, we will quote any revised charge and obtain your agreement first. If inspection reveals unsuitable headlights or a different service is needed, we will explain the options before proceeding. An inspection-only or unsuccessful-visit charge applies only if its amount and circumstances were expressly agreed in advance and it is lawful and reasonable.

Payment is due on completion unless another arrangement, including any deposit, is agreed in writing beforehand. We will confirm accepted payment methods with your quotation. Paying does not mean you give up the right to report a problem.

03. What restoration can achieve

We restore external lens surfaces. The achievable finish depends on age, wear, material, previous treatments and underlying condition. Deep scratches, internal clouding, condensation, cracks, broken seals, electrical faults and structural damage may require replacement or a different repair.

We inspect the headlights and discuss visible limitations and material risks before work. We may decline unsuitable work. Where a previously hidden issue becomes apparent, we will stop where appropriate, explain it and obtain agreement before changing the work or price.

Restoration is not a promise of a factory-new finish, a particular increase in light output or an MOT pass. Website comparison images are illustrative. These qualifications do not reduce any specific outcome we expressly agree with you or our obligation to work with reasonable care and skill.

04. Access, safety & weather

Please provide lawful parking, permission to work and enough safe space around the vehicle. Tell us about parking restrictions, gates, underground parking or other access limits. We will identify any electricity, shelter or other facilities required before you book.

We may pause or rearrange work if rain, temperature, lighting or other conditions would compromise safety or the finish. If we cannot proceed for reasons outside your control, we will offer a suitable alternative date without an extra call-out fee, or cancel and refund payment for work not supplied.

If avoidable access problems or your absence prevent an agreed visit, any charge must have been disclosed in advance and be limited to reasonable, evidenced losses after savings and replacement work are taken into account. It must not override cancellation rights or charge twice for the same loss.

05. Cancellations & rescheduling

Please contact us as soon as plans change; ideally give at least 24 hours’ notice. This request does not shorten your legal cancellation rights.

For a consumer service contract agreed online, by phone or away from our premises, you will normally have 14 days from the day after the contract is made to cancel without giving a reason. To cancel, email or call us with a clear statement. The optional form below may be used, but is not compulsory.

If you want work to start during that period, we will obtain your express request separately, in a form you can keep. If you then cancel, you may need to pay a proportionate amount for services actually supplied, but only where the required information and consent have been provided. You lose the cancellation right only after full performance with your prior express request and acknowledgment of that consequence. Reading these terms or submitting an enquiry is not that request.

Where a statutory cancellation refund is due, we will make it within 14 days of being told of your cancellation, using the original payment method unless you agree otherwise, without a refund fee.

Outside the statutory cancellation rules, any cancellation or missed-visit charge must be agreed beforehand, reflect reasonable actual losses and account for costs saved or replacement bookings. Deposits are not automatically non-refundable. If we cancel, we will refund payment for services not supplied; your other legal remedies remain available.

For the cancellation and refund process, see our Cancellation & Refund Policy.

06. Damage, pre-existing defects & liability

We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, defects, ordinary wear or deterioration that our work did not cause or worsen. Examples include brittle or cracked lenses, failed seals, internal moisture, damaged paint or previous defective repairs. We are not responsible for damage caused solely by later accidents, third-party work, misuse or failure to follow reasonable aftercare instructions.

Those exclusions apply only to the extent that the loss was not caused or contributed to by our negligence or breach of contract. Discovery of a defect during restoration does not, by itself, establish that we caused it; equally, we will not label damage as pre-existing merely to avoid responsibility.

We remain responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our failure to take reasonable care and skill or by our breach of contract. Loss is foreseeable when it is an obvious consequence or was reasonably contemplated by both sides when booking. We do not accept responsibility for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other applicable consumer law are unaffected. There is no blanket waiver for damage to your vehicle and no automatic cap at the service price.

07. Protection, aftercare & warranties

Follow the product-specific curing, washing and maintenance instructions we give you. Coatings and PPF are protective finishes, not protection against every impact, scratch or future deterioration. Lifespan varies with use, exposure and maintenance.

Our restoration warranty starts on the date the work is completed: Bronze 6 months, Silver 12 months, Gold 24 months. It applies to the headlight surfaces we treated and covers renewed external lens clouding caused by failure of our restoration or the protective finish we applied. It does not promise that your lights will remain free of every mark, chip or scratch.

To claim, contact info@mjrestoration.co.uk or 07847 262397 with your service date or other reasonable proof of the work and a description of the problem. Photographs help but are not essential. We will assess the issue and, if covered, arrange restoration or repair of the affected finish without charge, including any necessary return call-out within our agreed service area. If that remedy is not possible within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, we will offer an appropriate refund or price reduction. This does not limit remedies you have under consumer law.

Cover excludes issues caused solely by accidental impact, stone chips, vandalism, later third-party alterations, internal condensation, cracks, electrical faults, pre-existing defects that we did not cause or worsen, and damage from failure to follow reasonable aftercare instructions. An exclusion applies only to the extent it caused the problem. It cannot be used to avoid responsibility for our own defective work. Scratches and impact damage are not covered by the restoration warranty.

Keep the aftercare instructions and tell us promptly when an issue appears. We do not impose a short notification deadline that takes away your statutory rights. A warranty repair does not restart the original commercial warranty period, but your statutory rights in the original service and any remedial work continue. No lifetime guarantee is offered. We will provide the warranty terms and the trader’s full legal identity and correspondence address with your booking confirmation in a form you can keep. The commercial warranty is additional to, and does not replace or reduce, your statutory rights.

08. Problems & complaints

Tell us promptly if you notice damage or a concern, ideally with your booking details and photographs. Prompt reporting helps investigation; there is no short reporting deadline that removes your legal rights. Allow a reasonable opportunity to inspect and resolve the issue, where practical and safe.

If a service is not performed with reasonable care and skill, you may be entitled to repeat performance or an appropriate price reduction, alongside other remedies available under law. Contact info@mjrestoration.co.uk or 07847 262397. Nothing requires you to give up court proceedings or other statutory remedies.

09. Changes & governing law

The version supplied when you book applies to that booking. Later website changes do not retrospectively change your agreement. Any agreed change to the work or price will be recorded in writing.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. This does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections or the right to bring proceedings in the courts available to you where you live in the UK. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply where legally possible.

10. Optional cancellation form

Use this only if you wish to cancel. Copy it into an email to info@mjrestoration.co.uk, or send it to the geographical correspondence address supplied with your booking. You may also make any other clear cancellation statement.
